Texas Government Lobby 83rd Legislative Session: HB 60

House Bill No. 60 concerns the use of force in protection of personal property. The bill allows for the use of force to protect one’s private property, including a person’s possessions and land. When a person makes the choice to use forcible action,  they must have solid reason to believe that the action is immediately necessary. This change in law adds in “fresh pursuit”, allowing for a person to go after an intruder immediately.
